WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Membership is open to Australian individuals and companies engaged in the production of film and television or provide services and facilities related to production. All members pay an annual subscription fee, which varies depending on the category of membership.

MEMBER CATEGORIES & FEES 

All memberships comprise of 1 (One) Financial Year, from 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2012.

PRODUCER

Established independents or production companies.
Must have at least one producer credit and may nominate. Credits must be broadcast, theatrical or online release and be no less than 50 minutes.
May vote in one of the following divisions: Animation & New Media, Documentary, Feature Film, Television Production.
Producer members pay a levy on all productions produced by themselves or their company and on all other productions on which they receive a producer, executive producer or line producer credit.

Annual Subscription: $275* (inc GST)

CORPORATE

Production companies with more than five permanent full-time employees (excluding principals and directors).
Must have a minimum of one producer credit. Credits must be broadcast, theatrical or online release and be no less than 50 minutes.
May nominate across all six divisions, but only vote in one division.
May vote in one of the following divisions: Animation & New Media, Documentary, Feature Film, Television Production or Service & Facilities.
Producer members pay a levy on all productions produced by themselves or their company and on all other productions on which they receive a producer, executive producer or line producer credit.

Annual Subscription: $2200 (inc. GST)

SERVICES

Service members include lawyers, accountants, completion guarantors, insurance companies, film distributors, casting agents and booking agents.
May vote in the Services and Facilities Division only.
Service members do not pay a levy, however they pay $150 per hour for Industrial Relations advice.

Annual Subscription: $1650 (inc. GST)

FACILITIES

Facilities members come from PDV, post-production, and TVC production sectors, which covers equipment hire, editing, visual effects, sound editing and mixing, and TVC production houses. 
May vote in the Services and Facilities Division only.
Facilities members do not pay a levy, however they pay $150 per hour for Industrial Relations advice.

Annual Subscription: $1100 (inc. GST)

ASSOCIATE

Associate membership is for those who do not have a producer credit and who are not employers or who are not engaged professionally in the industry.
Do not pay levies and do not have access to SPAA Industrial Relations and Commercial Agreements.
Do not vote in SPAA elections.

Annual Subscription: $175 (inc. GST) 

STUDENT

Student membership is available to those who are studying full time in a related film/media course.
Do not pay levies and do not have access to SPAA Industrial Relations and Commercial Agreements.
Do not vote in SPAA elections.

Annual Subscription: $44 (inc. GST)

LEVIES 

In addition to annual membership fees, a production budget levy is made by Corporate and Producer members on all productions for all divisions.

Levies assist with the funding of SPAA and allow the organisation to do the necessary policy, industrial and commercial work on member's behalf.

Any persons or person who employs any Member from any division who produces, executive produces or line produces any feature film, short film, telemovie, documentary, series, serial, variety, diversity, game show, panel tonight, today or other short film, television or other audio visual screen production will attract a levy payable by that production to SPAA.
